About us:

Our current focus involves challenging the current proposed development at 75 Monroe. This is the largest development in the Village since the Erie Canal.
Our larger vision is to provide opportunities for neighbors to get together to improve our community. We would like to provide channels for improved communication among residents, and foster friendship and civic engagement. Whether you want to help plan a community garden, an art festival, or engage with government in shaping the future of our Village, a strong civic association is the vehicle for positive change.

Preliminary Presentation to APRB

A special meeting was held Monday, February 11 of the APRB (Architectural and Preservation Review Board) at Village Hall during which the developer’s architect summarized their revised design features for the proposed 75 Monroe project.

The discussion raised several concerns. We posted a detailed summary on the 75 Monroe: Recent Activity page.

Fundraising & Carl Crumley

We are working to raise money for our legal fund.

We have a page describing our legal challenge to 75 Monroe.

All contributions are greatly appreciated.  We are able to offer some special gifts to generous donors.  During this fundraising campaign, we are offering donors (at the $250 or greater level) a special gift: a framed and matted print by noted local photographer Carl Crumley. We feel that Carl’s photos convey the legacy that FOPV is fighting to uphold.  Throughout the seasons, Carl captures the character and beauty of the Erie Canal in Pittsford Village. Carl, a Pittsford resident, is a partner in Image City Photography Gallery.  He also has a gallery within the Pittsford Flour Mill (located in Schoen Place), and many local establishments display his work.  Carl has many fantastic photos of subjects other than the Village of Pittsford and we encourage you to see them at his gallery or at his website.  Please choose among 16 photographic prints of the Erie Canal in Pittsford. To choose a print, go to our gallery and list the name of the print in the comment field on your check or paypal donation.  You can also call us at 310-1925.

We are offering different size prints for different donation levels:

  • $250 8x10 framed and matted print.
  • $500 11x14 framed and matted print.
  • $1000 16x20 framed and matted print or two 11x14 framed and matted print.
  • $2500 7ft framed panorama.
